History as tested in Pakistani job papers is overwhelmingly the history of the subcontinent, and this bank of over 820 published questions reflects that. The Delhi Sultanate, the Mughal Empire and its architecture, British India and the Indian independence movement together make up most of the section. There are also questions on ancient civilisations, including the Indus Valley sites of Harappa and Mohenjo-daro, and a small number on world history.
The Mughal material goes beyond the six great emperors: expect questions on who built which monument, which battle brought a dynasty to power, and the order of succession. The independence-movement questions overlap with Pakistan Studies but approach the period from the wider Indian side, with figures and events from the Congress as well as the Muslim League. Dates matter here more than in any other section, so the explanations always give the year, and often the exact date, of the event in question.

Ancient India
The Aryans came from Central Asia to India around:
Correct answer: D
Scholarly consensus based on linguistic, archaeological, and genetic evidence places the migration of the Aryans into India during the Bronze Age, approximately between 1900 BCE and 1200 BCE, with around 1500 BCE being the most commonly cited date. This migration originated from Central Asia. The dates given in the options 8000 BC, 6500 BC, and 3500 BC are far too early compared to the accepted timeframe. Therefore, the correct answer is 2500 BC (option D) as it is the closest to the actual period of Aryan migration, although even this is slightly earlier than the most accepted dates. The original question's answer (3500 BC) is incorrect and misleading.

Which Turkish tribe created the Ottoman Empire?
Correct answer: A
The Ottoman Empire was founded by the Kayı tribe, a nomadic Oghuz Turkic clan from Anatolia. Osman I, the son of Ertuğrul, was the leader who established the Ottoman dynasty around 1299. The tribe originated in Anatolia, which is a region in modern-day Turkey. The other options (Serbia, Asia Minor, Central Asia) are either incorrect or less precise. Asia Minor is a broader term for Anatolia, but the specific tribe was the Kayı tribe from Anatolia. Serbia is unrelated to the founding tribe.

Indian Independence Movement
Which of the following events was not associated with the year 1920?
Correct answer: A
Gandhi took over the leadership of the Indian National Congress in 1921, not 1920. The Non-Cooperation Movement, Khilafat Movement, and Chaura Chauri Incident all occurred or were associated with 1920.
Partly. The independence movement and the years leading up to 1947 appear in both banks. Pakistan Studies then continues past 1947 into the country's political and constitutional history, while this History bank goes further back into the Sultanate, Mughal and ancient periods.
Medieval India, meaning the Delhi Sultanate and the Mughal Empire, is the largest block, with the Mughals alone spread across several topics covering rulers, battles, administration and architecture. The independence movement and British India come next, then ancient civilisations, with world history making up a small remainder.
Dates matter, but so do names and sequences: who succeeded whom, who built what, which treaty ended which war. The explanations give the year for every event so that you can build a timeline as you practise, which is the most reliable way to keep the Sultans and emperors in order.
